TrueMendous mini art print
$9.00
One 4″ x 6″ mini print of a portrait illustration that I did of emcee TrueMendous. See original here.
This is a LIMITED QUANTITY print, with only 4 to purchase right here. There are other opportunities to get one of these: by chance (ordering a “mystery print” where I randomly handpick one to send) or through a giveaway on my Instagram at a later date. That said, if you absolutely want one*, order quickly! First come, first serve.
* These are sold individually, meaning you can only buy one of TrueMendous. This way, other people have an opportunity to get their hands on one, too.
Details:
- The sizing is that of a postcard: 4″ x 6″
- Print is matte. The front (with the art) has a smooth, soft-feel coating. The back is a lime green color, and says “WOMXN IN HIP HOP BY TIFFANY BURRISS” in black lettering, on the bottom left corner. You are able to write on the back.
- Each print comes numbered (on the back) and signed.
- Colors are bold and vibrant, but may appear different on your screen than in real life.
Introduction that I wrote about Truemendous in 2019: TrueMendous is an emcee from Birmingham, UK. I got put onto @itstruemendous while drawing @shaydrap, having seen that she was on the Queens of Art tour earlier this year. Watched videos like “Childish Behavior”, “HUH”, & “She Don’t Make Sense”, & then listened to her albums. I love the way she manipulates words into the earth-shattering bars & the emotion that’s cast into every spell-binding verse. Strapped with an extensive vocabulary & breath control that could make an asthmatic like me trip up, she possesses a skillset of animated deliveries, intricate wordplay, playful alliteration, vivid imagery through moving storytelling (ex: “Hello, S’phronia” gives me goosebumps & made me cry), multisyllabic rhyme patterns, emotive tone-shifting, & subject matter that’ll build you up, break you down, & everything in between. She’s a lyricist whose music is complex & thought-provoking, yet vulnerable, comedic, & confident. // TrueMendous has a total of 6 projects: her ’14 debut mixtape, The Autistic Librarian; a conceptual series, called The Non-Models Portfolio, which is a trilogy of EPs (Whormonal Moodswings, Hello, & P.S. This Is Your Mother Calling), released between ’15-’17; P.S. This Is Your Father Calling EP & P.S. This Is Your Aunty Calling EP in ’19. All of which showcase her versatility as an emcee & explore a variety of genres, with topics of family & her upbringing, a struggle with racial identity, social injustice, emotional & sexual abuse, damaged relationships, navigating love, mental health, social media hang-ups, self-love, women empowerment, & more. She has toured globally, graced countless festival stages, flexed in cyphers, been in documentaries, worked with BBC 1xtra & BBC Three, & has opened for/shared stages with those such as Capone-N-Noreaga, Lady Leshurr, Akil The MC, Akua Naru, Jeru the Damaja, Monie Love, Shay D, & more. She now lives in East London, has been pursuing music & busking full-time for 4+ years, is a residential artist of The Roundhouse org, was featured in a “22 Future Black Icons of Birmingham” mural at Suki10c, & is thriving doing what she loves. Her alias isn’t just a clever play on words. 🎶
FYI: TrueMendous has since released a ton of new music, including music videos, since I last wrote about her in that intro. She signed to High Focus Records, & dropped a 7-track EP, titled HUH?
