In September 2018, I drew a lineup of beat machines, one of which was the TR-808. Despite it being an initial commercial failure in 1980, it has been revolutionized and is (still) iconic in the hip hop world. The 808 has been thumping in music by Run DMC, Public Enemy, Pete Rock, Kanye West, DJ Muggs, Dr. Dre, and more; probably even you, if you’re lookin’ at this sticker! This was a no-brainer machine to draw.
