Psalm One mini art print

One 4″ x 6″ mini print of a portrait illustration that I did of emcee Psalm One. See original here.

This is a LIMITED QUANTITY print, with only 4 to purchase right here. There are other opportunities to get one of these: by chance (ordering a “mystery print” where I randomly handpick one to send) or through a giveaway on my Instagram at a later date. That said, if you absolutely want one*, order quickly! First come, first serve.

* These are sold individually, meaning you can only buy one of Psalm One This way, other people have an opportunity to get their hands on one, too.

  • The sizing is that of a postcard: 4″ x 6″
  • Print is matte. The front (with the art) has a smooth, soft-feel coating. The back is a lime green color, and says “WOMXN IN HIP HOP BY TIFFANY BURRISS” in black lettering, on the bottom left corner. You are able to write on the back.
  • Each print comes numbered (on the back) and signed.
  • Colors are bold and vibrant, but they may appear different on your screen than in real life.

Introduction that I wrote about Psalm One in 2018: Psalm One is an emcee from Chicago. She was a former chemist before finding her place in hip hop. Man, where do I begin? The first time I ever heard of Psalm One might’ve been in 2006, when Death of a Frequent Flyer dropped. She was the first lady (& only one for awhile) of Rhymesayers, which is how I got put onto her, but she’s now an independent artist doin’ the damn thing all on her own. With clever wordplay, weight behind her humor, & poetic rhyming, she can be found spitting deep, vulnerable stories about life & relationships, to serious social commentary, being a voice for women (& women listeners), & even having fun with provocative topics of sex, sexuality, & going against the norm. She has been rapping her ass off & has released nearly 20 projects over the span of her career (includes a couple EPs under her other alias Hologram Kizzie + a project with Rapperchicks). She has toured the globe, headlining her own shows & has been a supporting act, but most recently she’s been performing around the states & was previously in Europe supporting RA The Rugged Man & ICP. Some other things: She started off in the battle circuit (such as Scribble Jam); she has mentored the youth through an afterschool program, called Rhymeschool; she was a featured story on PBS; she hosted Rap Karaoke, in Chicago; she has a vegan discussion page & podcast, called @TheImmoralVegan; & I had the immense pleasure of interviewing her in CrayonBeats Magazine issue 4, in 2013, which was a big deal for me. Get familiar!

FYI: Psalm One has done a lot since I last wrote this intro. She has dropped a handful of new projects, including Don’t Get Lazy Now, Flight of the Wig, and Before They Stop UsShe’s also in a new duo with Angel Davanport, called Big $ilky, and they’ve dropped 2 volumes of music. Browse through the Bandcamp. Also, go read this article Psalm wrote, called Ain’t No Human Resources in Hip Hop (where you’ll also see the original drawing used for the main image).
